App Management

Apps are the way functionality reaches your users. Every feature your organization uses — from chat assistants to document processing workflows — runs as an App on the Operaide platform. As an administrator, you control which Apps are available, how they are configured, and who can use them.

This chapter covers the full lifecycle from an operational perspective:

  • App Store — How Apps reach your instance, what ships out of the box, and how new Apps or versions are added.
  • Installation and Configuration — Installing Apps from the store and configuring their settings.
  • Removing Apps — Uninstalling Apps and understanding what gets cleaned up.
  • Chat App — Setup guide for the Operaide Chat App, covering AI Providers, Connections, database settings, and branding.

Prerequisites

Before installing most Apps, you will typically need:

  1. At least one AI Provider configured — see AI Provider.
  2. Connections for external services the App requires — see Connection Management.
  3. User roles assigned — users need the appropriate permissions to access installed Apps.

The specific prerequisites for each App depend on what it does. The Chat application, for example, needs an AI Provider and optionally a Jina connection for web search. A database workflow might need a database connection instead.
